Welcome to the Munchen Haus Bike Ride (fka Alefest Bike Ride) . This is NOT A RACE , but a fun un-timed bike ride on paved roads through the beautiful Wenatchee National Forest near Lake Wenatchee, Washington.
The goal of Alefest Bike Ride is to raise money for cancer research and local charities. The ride will donate all net proceeds to a cancer research lab that studies angiogenesis. By donating directly to the lab, we hope to produce for our sponsors, volunteers, supporters and participants direct evidence of where the dollars from the race go to help find a cure. Sandy Ryeom, a researcher at the lab, periodically gives updates on the lab’s progress. The lab is currently focusing its studies on why people with Down’s Syndrome are particularly immune to cancer, and identifying particular genetic proteins to ward off breast cancer. Click here to read Sandy’s latest update.
This ride is officially a 40 mile ride.
Ride check-in at Lake Wenatchee Recreation Club is from 10 – 11 am. on Saturday, April 25, 2009.
Ride Starts from Lake Wenatchee Recreation Club at any time after you have checked-in (because this in NOT A RACE, everyone does NOT have to start together, riders can start whenever they want and go whatever speed they want).
Riders can tack-on an additional 40 miles by starting at Cascade High School in Leavenworth and riding to the official check-in/start/finish, for a total "unofficial" ride of about 80 miles; however, THERE WILL NOT BE ANY RIDE PERSONNEL AT THE HIGH SCHOOL TO CHECK YOU IN AND THE ROUTE FROM THE HIGH SCHOOL IS NOT MARKED OR SUPPORTED.
Please visit all Munchen Haus Bike Ride sponsors listed on our "sponsor" page. After the ride, be sure to visit our primary sponsor, Munchen Haus, Leavenworth's truly authentic Bavarian beer garden (and all-around great people!). If/when you visit, please thank Pam and Oliver Brulotte (the proprietors) for sponsoring the ride.
